Formulation Philosophy
We believe in simplicity and transparency. Rather than a complex blend of dozens of ingredients, First Light uses six carefully selected essential oils in precise ratios. Each ingredient is included for a reason. Nothing is added for fragrance alone.
The blend is structured around four primary actives that form the core of our approach to natural mould defence. Two supporting botanicals complete the formulation, adding depth and balance to the overall profile.
Primary Actives
These botanicals form the core of First Light’s formulation, selected for their complementary aromatic properties and suitability for use in indoor environments.
Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata)
Steam-distilled from eucalyptus leaves, this essential oil is selected for its high concentration of 1,8-cineole, a compound shown to interfere with fungal cell membranes and inhibit spore germination in humid environments.
Eucalyptus forms the functional backbone of the formulation, contributing airborne activity rather than surface-only interaction.

Clove Bud (Syzygium aromaticum)
Extracted from dried flower buds, clove oil is rich in eugenol, a phenolic compound known to disrupt fungal enzyme activity and compromise cell wall integrity.
Within the formulation, clove contributes sustained pressure against mould growth and persistence, particularly under damp conditions.

Litsea Cubeba (May Chang)
Distilled from the fruit of the litsea cubeba tree, this oil is dominated by citral isomers, which have been shown to suppress fungal metabolism and slow hyphal development.

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)

What's Not Included
First Light contains no synthetic fragrances, preservatives, carrier oils, or fillers. It is composed solely of essential oils, nothing more.
Ingredients are not added to extend shelf life or reduce cost. The result is a concentrated formulation designed to disperse cleanly and consistently when used as directed.
