How First Light Is Commonly Used
Diffusion remains the primary and recommended method for using First Light. The following outlines common secondary applications that some customers incorporate as part of a broader approach to maintaining indoor environments.
Primary use: Diffusion
Diffusion refers to air-based dispersion and does not rely on surface contact or residue.
Ultrasonic and nebulising diffusion is the primary and recommended method for using First Light. This approach disperses the botanical blend throughout indoor environments, supporting conditions that are naturally less hospitable to mould formation.
Consistent practice is key. Regular daily diffusion in moisture-prone spaces helps maintain the intended environmental conditions over time. This is not a reactive measure but rather an ongoing aspect of home care.
Passive placement (non-atomised use)
Passive placement refers to positioning a small amount of First Light on an inert, absorbent surface such as a porous stone or salt block, without heat, water, or atomisation.
In this context, the blend evaporates slowly into the surrounding air at a very low intensity. This approach is gentle and subtle, and is typically used in enclosed or low-traffic areas where regular diffusion is impractical.
Some users place First Light passively in wardrobes, cupboards, or storage spaces. In these environments, minimal vapour release is sufficient and active diffusion is not required.
Passive placement is supplementary only. It does not replace regular diffusion in primary living areas and should not be used on finished surfaces or in locations where residue may be undesirable.
Light surface refresh spray
Some customers create a light surface spray by adding a small amount of First Light to water in a spray bottle. This is used for refreshing non-porous surfaces after regular cleaning—not as a cleaner, disinfectant, or treatment.
When used, this approach is typically applied to bathroom tiles, benchtops, and other non-porous surfaces that have already been cleaned through standard methods. It is a post-cleaning refresh, not a cleaning step itself.
This method is not suitable for porous surfaces, fabrics, or areas with visible mould growth. It does not replace proper cleaning, ventilation, or moisture control.
What First Light is not intended for
To set clear expectations, First Light is not designed for:
- Treating visible mould growth
- Replacing ventilation or mechanical moisture control
- Acting as a disinfectant or biocide
- Addressing structural moisture issues
If mould is already visible or if moisture problems persist, professional assessment and remediation may be necessary. First Light supports prevention, not remediation.
Using First Light responsibly
As with any essential oil blend, mindful use ensures the best experience:
- Follow the guidance on the product label
- Use in well-ventilated indoor spaces
- Discontinue use if sensitivity or irritation occurs
- Keep the undiluted blend out of reach of children and pets
First Light is formulated with IFRA-compliant essential oils at concentrations appropriate for home diffusion. Questions about specific sensitivities should be directed to a healthcare professional.
